Early
Works

Et quid amabo,
nisi quod
aenigma est?
— De Chirico
The evolution of these early drawings (1979-82) stems from close observations of traditional religious events and experiences occurring within the circumference of southern Italian culture. Concurrently, another source of reference informs my work drawing attention to the lessons of Italian fifteenth and sixteenth century imagery and sentiments. They are an aesthetic refection unfolding my experiences immersed in a religiously prescribed Italo-Canadian environment.

The methodology of my drawings borders on conventional drawing approach executed with graphite, charcoal, colour pencil, and watercolour on fine rag paper. They are rendered from a collection of images both found and personally captured.
